The combination of tough duck fabric, reminiscent of Carhartt workwear, with the rubber-coated and lace-up design inspired by U.S. Navy rainwear is truly outstanding.
The 1980s ISSEY SPORT collection was designed by Tsumori Chisato. I felt that her approach to referencing vintage designs reflected a distinctly feminine perspective. While the silhouette features ample room that doesn’t hug the body’s contours, the way the pockets alone protrude outward to create movement in the outline seems heavily influenced by Parisian fashion of the same era—a design I find truly wonderful.

カーハートのワークウェアのようなタフなダック生地にアメリカ海軍のレインウェアから引用しているゴム引きとレースアップデザインの切り替えが秀逸です。1980年代のISSEY SPORTはツモリチサトによるデザインですVINTAGEデザインからの引用方法が女性ならではの視点だと感じました。身体のラインを拾わない余白のあるシルエットですが、ポケットのみが外にせり出してアウトラインに動きを設けようとする感覚は同じ時代のPARISからの影響が大きそうでデザインとしても素晴らしいなと思います
