The combination of tough duck fabric, reminiscent of Carhartt workwear, with the rubber-coated and lace-up design inspired by U.S. Navy rainwear is truly outstanding. The 1980s ISSEY SPORT collection was designed by Tsumori Chisato. I felt that her approach to referencing vintage designs reflected a distinctly feminine perspective. While the silhouette features ample room that doesn’t hug the body’s contours, the way the pockets alone protrude outward to create movement in the outline seems heavily influenced by Parisian fashion of the same era—a design I find truly wonderful.
