MST PAACS / MST OBJECTS

ARTIST: MASATO AOKI

Masato Aoki was born in 1990.

While gaining experience as the 1st assistant of Tokyo-based designer brand YOHEI OHNO, he taught himself how to make bags.

The concept of MST PAACS is the expansion of bags through modern handcrafting.

He has been developing products by mixing the conflicting elements of 3D modeling output of structures and handcrafting, while interpreting it as “manufacturing that is possible only in the modern age” where convenient tools such as 3D printers and laser cutters have become widespread and individuals can easily engage in high-level creations.

The bags he creates transcend the original purpose of bags and are like art pieces to be carried around.

It takes an enormous amount of time, from four to six months, to produce a single bag.

From 2025, he will start another project, MST OBJECTS, to present one-of-a-kind art objects.

These art pieces are sold exclusively at fernweh.

MST PAACSのコンセプトは、現代版手工業によるバッグの拡張

3Dプリンターやレーザーカッターなど便利なツールが浸透し、個人でも容易に高度な創作に取り組めることが「現代だからこそ出来るモノ作り」と解釈しながら、3Dモデリングによる構造体の出力とハンドクラフトという相反する要素をミックスしたプロダクトを展開している

彼が作るバッグはバッグ本来の目的意識を越境し、持ち歩くアートピースのような存在

バッグ1点を制作するためには4ヶ月から半年ほどの膨大な期間を要する

2025年より別プロジェクトMST OBJECTSで一点物のアートオブジェクトの発表もスタート
